HOW TO: ACCESSING OUR SCHOOL LOGIN PORTAL

  • You can use our school login portal to access Hotchkiss apps/websites and your Hotchkiss email. To set this up, follow these steps

  • Before you begin, you will need your login credentials which were emailed to your personal email address. You will also need a personal cell phone or mobile device to enroll in Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) using the Google Authenticator app to protect your account. If you do not have a personal cellphone or mobile device, please contact the IT Services department to discuss other options.

  • Follow the instructions here to set up your Hotchkiss account:

1. SIGN IN

Go to login.hotchkiss.org and enter your username and temporary one-time password provided via email, and click “Sign In.”

2. EXTRA VERIFICATION FOR YOUR ACCOUNT

  1. You must have your mobile phone for this section.

  2. When the “Set up multifactor authentication” screen appears, click on the “Setup” button next to the “Google Authenticator” option

3. Choose the type of device you have and follow link to download the authenticator from the app store: If you are not performing this process on your mobile device, you will need to go to the app store (iPhones), or Google Play store (Androids) and search for “Google Authenticator” to install the app.

4. Open the Google Authenticator app: Tap the “+” icon, then select “Scan barcode” and scan the QR code displayed on the next page. Once you see your account in the app, enter the number currently displayed into the prompt:

5. When you have successfully completed adding the Authentication Factor you will see a check next to “Google Authenticator” and you can click Finish:

3. CREATE A NEW PASSWORD

  1. Enter the temporary password in the “Old password” field and then create a new password based on the criteria listed below.

  2. Note: Your password must be at least eight characters long, contain at least one character from three of the following four types of characters, and cannot include any part of your username:

  • Numbers (0,1,2,3,4, etc.)

  • Upper case letters (A,B,C,D, etc.)

  • Lower case letters (a,b,c,d, etc.)

  • Symbols (!, @, #, $, etc.)

  1. Next, enter your new password in the “New password” field and enter it again in the “Repeat new password” field. Click “Change password” at the bottom of the page.

4. CREATE YOUR HOTCHKISS ACCOUNT

It is critical that you enter a personal or other secondary email address should you ever need to use the “Forgot Password?” link on the login page (login.hotchkiss.org).

Note: You will receive a message in your secondary email account asking you to confirm your secondary email address by clicking on a link within the message. You should visit your secondary email account after you have completed the setup of your account to verify the address.

Next, you can optionally Add a phone number for resetting your password or unlocking your account using SMS(text). This is helpful if you did not enter, or end up not having access to your secondary email. To add a cell phone for texting recovery codes, click “+ Add Phone Number”:

Choose your country from the drop down, and enter your cell phone number in the box below.:

You will receive a text message at the number provided with a verification code you must then enter into the form:

Once the correct code is entered, confirmation will appear on the screen:

Next, choose a security image from the images presented on the screen. Click on “Create My Account.” Once you have completed the steps above you can access login.hotchkiss.org at any time from on or off campus.

5. ADDITIONAL NOTES

  1. Don’t forget to confirm your secondary email address if you provided one during account setup. This process is illustrated:

Upon clicking “Confirm Email Change” you will be presented with the Okta login where you must enter your username and password (the new password you just created). If you do not see the resulting confirmation screen, your secondary email will not function. This process is illustrated:
